WE MADE A DIFFERENCE
BECAUSE OF YOU
Memorial Day weekend was our 3rd annual 22-mile Ruck March against Veteran/military suicide. We were excited to welcome 30 future Marines, whom joined our march this year! Temperatures were well over 100 degrees, but young and old, Veterans and Active military along with proud Americans walked with determination to bring awareness and change to this tragedy!
Through out the year AAS traveled Northeastern Illinois, and as far south as Danville. We're proud to announce, for the first time, embracing our Veterans and their families in Northwestern Indiana. Our Missions ranged from car repairs for a Veteran and his family in need, to helping a military mom bring a young Veteran back home to the love and support of his family, after his battle with PTSD tempted him to take his own life. God was with him, and AAS as we worked to aid this Veteran and his family set up a network of support near home. PTSD only claimed 21 heroes that day!
All your donations have enabled AAS to Bless American heroes, past, present, and future, throughout the year! This includes the unsung heroes serving at home, The Military Family! This past year, Adopt a Soldier has welcomed several newly enlisted military members and their families into our organization. As Parents and recruit’s siblings enter their own form of Basic Training/bootcamp, AAS families embrace the recruits loved ones as they embark on their journey of Serving on the Homefront! There are no words to describe the pride, fear and sacrifice a family endures while their loved one is serving.
That’s were Adopt a Soldier comes in! A void is left in a family when their Soldier is serving, an empty chair during the holidays, missed birthdays, graduations, weddings and other family milestones. AAS has created a way to temporarily help to fill that void by supporting our soldiers’ brothers and sisters in arms, our Veterans! We work together to stand up against the issues facing many of our Veterans today! Homelessness, and suicide amongst our veterans, are two of the tragic realities across the Nation today. Our goal is to continue to embrace our troops, veterans and their families, offering support, education, and outreach programs, creating a more stable path in the civilian world for our heroes.
